I got a new toy keyboard to play with
« on: December 25, 2017, 06:02:13 PM »
I found this thing on amazon for 22 bucks. The reason why I wanted to get it was that it has a 27 year old sound chip inside. It kinda surprises me that this chip is still in production, or maybe it was sitting in stock for so long until some company in china wanted to use this 27 year old chip in a more modern product. The design of this keyboard looks very 90s and it obviously fits well with the sound chip.
The strange sound chip inside this thing is the same 4 channel 64 step waveform engine, but the software is different and has some funny sound glitches with certain functions.
Sound samples will come later. For now, here are some photos.
Also the USB port on the side is fake.
This keyboard was also released as BS-9902B in the Arabian market. US and other countries was released as QM-3758.

Here's a demo of what the keyboard sounds like. This one was pretty difficult to record because of its size, making it impossible to put it near my laptop's microphone.
