It'd be nice to have an explanation for all the FM instrument options, mostly so we have something to refer to. Information like what "PMS" or "TL" stands for, how all the options affect the instrument, how to make use of AM, etc. Newcomers will appreciate knowing exactly what they're playing around with.

That's it though, the rest of the manual is easy to follow!

The thing is that this is a manual for DefleMask, not for FM Synthesis. That will require another manual, even bigger than DefleMask itself.

Maybe the best option is to add links or sources where FM information can be readed.

Hmm, I only meant an overview with a couple common-use tips, nothing too detailed. There's a brief overview in the Sega Genesis Technical Manual about envelopes that does what I was thinking of.
Quote
TL: Total Level, the highest amplitude of the waveform.
AR: Attack Rate, the angle of initial amplitude increase. This can be made very steep if desired. The problem with slow attack rates is that if the notes are short, the release (called ‘key off’) occurs before the note has reached a reasonable level.

etc etc, all the way down to SSG-EG (SSG-EG could use an actual explanation, it has its uses)
Some additional information is mentioned much deeper in the manual, like MUL and DT on page 13, RS on page 14, or AMS and FMS on page 17. Only a fraction of the YM2612's Technical Manual is actually useful for newcomers, and the info is good to know for using DefleMask's FM synthesis effectively. The manual shouldn't need any more than one or two pages. If you really want to keep DefleMask's manual free of FM info though, then links to sources would be great.

Aside, a little feedback for the effects under Arcade (YM2151+SegaPCM): For 17xx and 18xx, it'd be good to mention that these effects use the instrument's PMS and AMS settings.

As a newcomer to the software, I definitely think having an explanation for what all of the shorthand stuff in the instrument panel stands for would be nice. I don't think a full documentation of how to actually use them would be necessary, since as you said, the intent of the manual is to teach how to use the software and not necessarily how to use FM synthesis...But I did take the time to watch other tutorials on how to use FM synthesis and still just had to fiddle with each slider until I figured out what exactly I was adjusting. It could be like, one extra page, tops.

Technically, the way each of the instruments work is in an online version of the manual, but I think you've got a point there.
Music truly is without age.

Found a typo in the manual, in the Extended Commands section:
Quote
- ECxx - Note Cut: This command will rapidly cut a trigged note, a value greater than the speed of the current row will be ignored.
"trigged"? Isn't it "triggered"?  :D

Edit: Sorry... Also,
Quote
Pattern Matrix/Instrument Editor Swich
Shouldn't it be "Switch"?

Last Edit: There are some more typos, but I don't want to post them yet so I don't over edit.

Well since you posted, I'm gonna post the rest:
Quote
Movement trough ChannelsCtrl+Left/Right
Movement trough PatternsCtrl+Up/Down
trough should be through...

Quote
Pattern Number Equal To The Lastest One
Quote
Store the lastest buffer size used.
Lastest should be Last.

Quote
13xx - Fitler Resonance Set:
Quote
14xx - Fitler Mode Set:
Fitler should be Filter.

And no problem. Sorry, but umm.. Hahaha...
