Hi all,

New here, and with deflemask, finally found a FM chip with 2/4 operators, YMU759, thanks Delek !! (I have been done stuff with OPL2/3, YM2413 and YM2612 earlier).

My question is what kind of phones people have used and that have worked, I have seen list of compatible phones, but would be interested to know experiences of real use, models, how you managed to get MMF's to phone etc. I found one old, Samsung C170, which might have YMU759 but haven't yet solved how to get MMF (without data cable) to phone (problems with WAP, too).

Also, I started to check some Java code to make simple player, possibly, at some point in future :)

I used to have an old Samsung with WAP connection to download the MMFs. The best option could be Bluetooth, but there are so few phones with Bluetooth and FM soundchips. Infrared port could be another good option (some Alcatels in the list have infrared).

Yes, Bluetooth or IrDa would be best, or if there's a model with the micro SD, still browsing the list and checking models.

There are Yamaha's own tools for MMF, starting from MA-2 to MA-7 (I assume Deflemask makes MA-2 MMF's), I try to find a way to rip the instrument data from Yamaha version, they contain whole set of MIDI GM instruments and build more to Deflemask DMP-instruments that way.

You obviously have MMF file format specs, is it possible to share them here, I have checked few specs on Internet/Yamaha site, they contains lot of stuff I assume you have not used for sound MMF generation.

Thanks :) !

Hi,

I also found an (old) Winamp-style Yamaha MMF player, here:

I downloaded and tested, works well (also in my Windows 8.1) !

Delek, do you have MMF MA-2 file specs, can't find proper detailed version of anywhere. Possible to share ? I hope :)

I don't have it. I did a reverse engineer process for the format back in the 2011 and I don't remember anything. Everything is in the source code of DefleMask, maybe I will write a specs file some day.

Any others ? Anyone using real machines with YMU759 ? I have only one phone, Samsung C170, no IrDA, Bluetooth, MicroSD etc, only WAP 1.2, which is not supported by operators here anymore. I bought a USB cable but not able to connect to the phone.

No one using YMU759 with real phone ?

ps. Delek, there seems to be a problem with Deflemask+YMU, when muting channel, pattern always seems to rewing to the beginning of the pattern currently playing.

I'd like to do more FM phone music, too but I've had the same problem. I bought a couple of old phones to try and borrowed one from a friend but I had problems in all cases. Delek has (or had?) a Samsung X820 which worked for one of my Deflemask mmf tracks. They just seem to be rather rare and expensive for an old phone. Let me know if you find another phone that works! I really think microSD is the way to do it, though Bluetooth should also work.

Also, see this thread: http://www.delek.com.ar/forum/deflemask/need-help-getting-mmf-files-onto-a-samsung-phone/
