Is There A Way To Convert Master System module to Game Gear?
« on: February 17, 2017, 04:52:58 pm »
I'm sorry for my stupidity. I would love to create songs for the TI SN76489, but I do not have a Master System. However, I do have a Game Gear. Is there any way I can get MS modules to work with the Game Gear? I am guessing it is possible, but I do not know any form of programming. A response will be appreciated. Thanks!

Both the Game Gear and Master System use the same soundchip (SN76489), so it should work if you have a flashcart with SD card. However there are a couple of differences:

1. The noise channel behaves a bit differently, the 6.25% pulse wave is replaced with a PoKEY-ish distortion wave? (I think because of VGM tests in Audio Overload.)
2. Each channel supports simple stereo panning (left, center, or right panning). Since Deflemask doesn't support Game Gear stereo, this feature is unused in those songs.
