Need Help Getting mmf Files onto a Samsung Phone
« on: September 30, 2011, 07:15:18 AM »
Hi guys,

So I have a Samsung X609 and the appropriate USB cable for it. I have successfully installed the required drivers under Win XP and everything seems fine as when I plug the phone in it shows 'USB Connected' on the phone.

The problem comes when trying to find the right software to read and write files to the phone. I've tried the latest Samsung PC Studio, but that doesn't even find the phone. Then PIMS File Manager 1.0 does not find the phone either. Version 2.0 finds the phone (i.e COM port) but does not connect to it. The USB cable came with PCLink 2.0 but that is in Chinese and also doesn't seem to work either.

Does anyone have experience with USB connection to older Samsung phones? You help would be greatly appreciated as I'd love to get some tunes going on the phone.

By the way, the phone is not connected to a network and will not take a SIM card so WAP is not an option.

Thanks! :)

Keep in mind that there are SO MUCH Samsung PC Studios, maybe you have to get the version 3 or version 2, and never the "NEW Samsung PC Studio" because it will not work with older phones.

Also, check out the memory capacity of this phone, maybe some complex tracks will be greater than the free memory space of this old Samsung (~100kb). I've tried to upload a 70kb track to a Samsung X427 and it says "No Memory". :(

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that the best option is to get a phone with Expansion Card/Nice Internal Memory with Bluetooth/Infrared port in order to upload the files to the phone easily, and an FM Chip of course. So far, I've discovered:

- Samsung X820 -> 50MB Internal Memory, Bluetooth, YAMAHA YMU762. (and it is a beauty slim phone, 6.9mm!!!!)
- Samsung U100 -> 70MB Internal Memory, Bluetooth, YAMAHA YMU762. (slimest phone in history, 5.9mm!!!!)
- Samsung A707 -> 29MB Internal Memory, Bluetooth, MicroSD, YAMAHA YMU762.
- Samsung Z300 -> 50MB Internal Memory, Bluetooth, MicroSD, YAMAHA YMU769. (the 769 is one of the most advanced mobile FM soundchips)
- Samsung i700 -> 32MB Internal Memory, Infrared, MMC, YAMAHA YMU762. (Windows Pocket 2003!)
- Samsung T509 -> 7MB Internal Memory, Bluetooth, YAMAHA YMU762.
- Samsung X700 -> 35MB Internal Memory, Bluetooth, MicroSD, YAMAHA YMU762.
- Alcatel One Touch 565 -> 2MB Internal Memory, Infrared, YAMAHA YMU762.
- Alcatel One Touch 557 -> 2MB Internal Memory, Infrared, YAMAHA YMU762.
- Siemens S55 -> 400KB Internal Memory, Infrared, Bluetooth, YAMAHA YMU759. (a very Old-Skool one!. I love it.)
- Siemens SL55 -> 1.6MB Internal Memory, Infrared, YAMAHA YMU759. (a very Old-Skool one too!.)
- LG U8180 -> 32MB Internal Memory, Infrared, YAMAHA YMU762.

Oh, I almost forget this.

Samsung P300 - 80 MB Internal Memory, Bluetooth, YAMAHA YMU759. (I FUCKING LOVE THIS PHONE!!!!)

Thanks, but I think I'll just leave it for now as I don't want to spend any more money on this.

But anyone interested in a cheap Siemens SX-1 with 2GB memory card, new battery, charger and audio cable?
