Sound preview on note input

Hello, this looks like a great program, but as I'm using it I've found one thing very frustrating.
There doesn't seem to be any preview of the sound when you enter a note into the patterns(like, pressing a note key would both play the note aloud, and enter it into the grid at the same time). This is useful to preview notes and pick which one I like. Also, each keypress skips to the next space down in the grid, and I want it to stay where it is, so I can input different notes til I find one I like, then move downward in the grid manually. I searched in the manual to see if this was a feature I could turn on or off, or change in the config file, but I found nothing. Is this possible, or if not, could it be implemented? VGM Music Maker does this by default, and I think DefleMask looks like a much better program but I would find it very hard to use without these features.

Besides being able to preview synth notes, this is also important to have feedback to make sure I pressed the right note. Otherwise I will not realize I pressed the wrong note until I go to play the whole pattern. Also, the fact that the cursor shifts down to the next space in the grid is frustrating because if I press a wrong note, or one I don't like, I have to move back up to that space in the grid every time I want to change it. For this particular issue, it would be sufficient just to be able to Step setting in the Menu to 00 instead of having it start at 01!

If you do not hear any preview of the sound, then you do not made any instrument. The preview of the sound is always there and if you dont hear it you should check the video tutorials if the manual is not enough, or try more posibilities before reporting it as a bug.
I dont get it, appears like that you did not even find the instrument list.

About the step, you have to disable de recording mode with SPACE. Again, it is in the manual.

No, I definitely made instruments and could input notes, and hear them playing back. I get it now though, it will only preview an instrument that is currently SELECTED. I just didn't know that.

But disabling recording only prevents me from being able to input notes, it does not let me 'input notes without the cursor then moving down a space in the grid'.

Ohh ok, sorry for the misunderstood. Then I will add support for step 0 in the next release.

That would be awesome, thank you!

Would it also be possible to have it preview whichever instrument was last entered into the instrument column of the pattern section? I ask this because it would simplify the workflow. for example--If I want to punch notes in and have them audible as I do so, I must select that instrument in the instrument menu, and that is fine. But if I then want to change instruments, I must input the instrument number into the instruments column in the pattern area AND select it in the instrument menu to hear what I am doing.

This is only the second tracker I have worked with, so I am not sure how certain things normally work in most trackers. But I know that VGMMM does this automatically which is intuitive---although many other things in VGMMM are UNintuitive. Since I don't know what the actual standard is for trackers, if this sounds like some random vanity request, ***please ignore it***, I do not wish to bog you down with vanity requests. But I think it would help most users save time. =D

Thanks again, I am really enjoying the program!

EDIT: My apologies, I should have put this request in the requests thread.

Wow, that was a nice idea. Please, re-download DefleMask, I added your two requests (the Step 0 and the auto-instrument change) and fixed a bug regarding to the EF effect. Regards.
