Wavetable extraction and more...
« on: July 23, 2014, 05:24:33 am »
Just want to share the way of extracting wavetables from PC-engine *.hes files, I found, which is also should work for GameBoy music (altough i'm haven't really tested it)

We need to use NEZplug++ winamp plug-in or stand alone player, then in winamp choose "View file info" and click on Dump and DEV_HuC6230 in Device.
For me It's more convenient, than just batch extracting, this way I at least know exactly which waveform on which channel and at which moment plays right now:)
The only thing I don't like is that you need to manually press button to update current wavetable information. I wonder if it possible to modify it so it would updates automatically, and also add support to rip directly into Deflemask wavetable format? Source code is available!

Another thing is, I found the way of converting(logging) hes to midi (and nes2mid and gb2mid also :))  here explains how it's working http://loveemu.hatenablog.com/entries/2013/06/27  Look in attach for working emulator with files for PC-engine(Also works directly with .hes files!!!) I hope it will help somebody!  ;D

Also I might add that the Game Boy emulator bgb has the ability to rip waveforms.

Alternatively, there's a program that will convert GBS files directly to FamiTracker format.
