Show Off Your Work / [GB] Dark Castle (mk2)
« Last post by Pegmode on September 12, 2018, 04:52:18 AM »
Here's a re-worked Dark Castle cover that I originally posted in January. The wave lead was terrible so I fixed it and added an LSDJ style wave channel solo in the middle.

"Blue Moon Stone" from 1001 Spikes covered on the PC Engine. Hope you enjoy!
Hey fellow Deflemask users. I've got a new album out! It features 33 insanely eclectic, catchy chiptune originals, covers, and collaborations I've made over the past few years from Chiptunes = Win, Chiptunes4Autism, YM2017, BOTB and demoscene stuff + covers and collabs and more. Sega Genesis / NES / TG-16 / C64 / AY / GB / SMS / WILDCHIP ITS ALL THERE. It's also pay what you want - so feel free to grab it!

22 of the 33 tracks are Deflemask as well!
Album also includes collaborations with Jredd/Groovemaster303  - composers of Paprium.

Also includes bonus source DMFs if you download.

Hello everybody viewing this thing.

I made this because I wanted to do something with the Doom 32X instruments I ripped in my spare time. And I was bored.

Is it possible to add a song-wide volume multiplier? If not for every chip, then at least for those with granular volume control (e.g. YM2151 + Sega PCM)?

I'm currently composing the soundtrack for my game with DefleMask (working with another composer), and a feature like this would really help in regards to mixing. For example, if I have a song composed at full volume and I want to bring up the bass instrument a ton, my only real option is to raise the volume, then work through the resulting clipping by slowly rebalancing all the other channels with Ctrl+F1/Ctrl+F2 (or trying to make the other channels softer at the exact points where I hear clips, or trying to balance FM / PCM volume parameters). It isn't a huge deal when you have a system with 5 simple sound channels like the NES, but our game is composed entirely using YM2151 + Sega PCM (13 channels, most of which are usually playing).
Bug Reports / Re: A few bugs (Genesis)

I was also suffering with the bug #3 but i found a workaround. After setting the loop, i went to the same channel which gets the wrong instrument after loop, it was empty so i set a note and switched back and forth the instrument a few times at an inaudible volume and it worked. But if i had stuff on that channel at the time i wouldn't be able to do it, so that's still a problem.

Bug Reports / Mac OS X 10.13 shows v0.12.1 as "Bluetooth File Exhange"?
« Last post by epilis on August 29, 2018, 04:41:38 PM »
I was recently forced to upgrade Mac OS X to 10.13. (I had to in order to use the new beta for it)

v0.12.1 shows the app name in the top left hand corner as "Bluetooth File Exchange." (picture attached)

If I launch v0.12.0, it shows Deflemask, but I got a warning about it not being properly optimized for 10.13

Everything seems to work fine, though.

I really wanna start making chiptune. I love Yuzo Koshiro's Streets of Rage soundtrack so much that I wanted to get into making music using the proper Genesis fm chips and stuff, one problem, I literally know nothing! I mean I can make music on Logic and stuff, but how can I connect the Genesis to my Mac etc, do I need to modify the Sega Genesis somehow? If anyone could link me to any super basic tutorials with videos showing how to connect the Sega Genesis to my mac, that would be amazing. Thank yoU!

This turned out significantly better than I expected it would - a cover of "You Will Know Our Names" from Xenoblade Chronicles, on the Sega Genesis.
Guess you could say.... I was really feeling it :P
