DefleMask crashes on new Genesis ROM exporter under non-Windows
« on: January 25, 2016, 12:07:44 AM »
Try to export any of the Demo Songs to a ROM under non-Windows, and it crashes.
(Note for Mac users: Sometimes it seems to work, but the exported ROM isn't there.)

However, a simple 1-note module does work.

Strange... It is no crashing for me on Ubuntu and OS X, does Defle have write permissions on his folder?

Yes, it does. Now I tried to export LordHypnos' Dead Feelings cover, and it failed with error 5.
Also, my uname -a:
Code: [Select]
Linux linux 4.1.15-rt17-1-rt-fixedtimers #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Sat Jan 16 01:14:52 GMT+5 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I get the same problem. Worth mentioning that I'm running it using a script that came with the archlinux package of version 10.1 (or something), from the AUR (edited to use with 11.1), which basically stores all of the default files and binaries in /opt and then saves user stuff to ~/.deflemask. I don't actually know how it works.

Here's the terminal output:
Code: [Select]
Launching DefleMask overlay on /tmp/deflemask-unionfs. Your work and changes are saved to ~/.deflemask
VGM Compressor

File written.
/usr/bin/deflemask11_1: line 16:  2729 Segmentation fault      (core dumped) ./DefleMask $@

This was trying to export one of my own modules to bin, but it also didn't work with one of the demos. Exporting to rom works fine in version 11.0

and uname -a:

Code: [Select]
Linux sealab 4.2.5-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Oct 27 08:13:28 CET 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Anything else that might be useful?

Will be useful to have the crash dump, also did that only happen on Genesis exports right? Other systems should work fine.

Possibly a stupid question, but where would I find the crash dump for deflemask?
I tested with NES (because I don't have any other emulators properly configured enough to test), and it seemed to work fine.

EDIT:
FWIW, I also tested on a fresh copy of the latest deflemask pre release extracted to a directory where I have write privelages and with no special launch script and had the same problem.

hey! I'm the maintainer of the AUR package  ;)

the launch script uses unionfs so you can have deflemask installed on a read only location like /opt while having it save your changes on ~/.deflemask

shoot me up any question about any bugs it has! you can comment here: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/deflemask

As far as I can tell, the package works fine. I just replaced the binary with 11.0, and it still worked. Also I copied and edited the launch script to allow me to run both 11.0 and 11.1 using the same user folder (~/.deflemask). Thanks for creating and maintaining that, btw   :)

Nice! You're welcome!

I've just updated the AUR package to v11.1pre. Enjoy!
