First MMX cover done in Deflemask. Maybe I'll end up doing the whole soundtrack this way.

Nice! Please do Armored Armadillo Stage. I recently have been really wanting a FM version of that song either YM2151 or YM2612. It makes more sense to do the Genesis sound chip though because that's what went against the SNES.

... and here is Boomer Kuwanger. Using a new trick for FM orch hits here by applying pitch envelopes to 1 operator in channel 3.

Great! I really like the square-like sound with the FM OPs near the end. Nice attempt at orch hits on the FM too.

How come you're using all 11khz drum samples? I've noticed some cymbals can sound better at a lower rate but usually not other things in my experience.

The square-ish sound is based on the Time Trax lead guitar. My version decays into the square harmonics a bit faster. I also use a slightly different patch with a softer attack for the lead harmonies since I think it sounds too harsh when you stack that same guitar sound twice.

I like working under the assumption that this would be something that would actually be stuffed into a 90's ROM cart, so I don't use high fidelity samples. And I only use PSG for cymbals.

Oooh, nice! I gotta get around to doing some Mega Man X on the PC-Engine.  Armored Armadillo will probably be the first one I cover.

How did I miss this post? *listens to Armored Armadillo cover* Yes, the Armored Armadillo cover is amazing! The FM brass is perfect and you really nailed emulating the SNES echo. In some spots I was a bit confused why you used glide though. Maybe I just need to go back and listen to the original. Thank you for taking my request though. I really appreciate it. ;D
